The well-established community saw the majority of its construction and development between the early 1970s and the late 1990s. A handful of residences were slightly earlier, popping up between the 1940s and 1960s.

The boat club also hosts several events each year. A dock party is thrown in the summer, where everyone attending brings food and the boat club provides the drinks. To end the season the boat club hosts the Oyster Roast on the beach in early November.
